2021: Virtual Summit
The Bootcamp’s first ever public-facing event took place on August 5th, 2021 and featured feature panel discussions on 21st century applications for advanced reactors, the technology’s implications for environmental justice, and its role within the broader cleantech ecosystem. Consistent with past years, the panelists represented a broad range of backgrounds from within and outside the nuclear space.

Keynote Speaker: Kristine Svinicki
Kristine Svinicki is an internationally recognized policy expert and innovator with over 30 years of public service at the state and federal levels. Appointed to her role by three successive United States presidents, Svinicki is the longest-serving member of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (U.S. NRC) in the agency’s history, having stepped down as Chairman in early 2021. A firm believer that diversity in all forms – thought, experience, perspective and background – is essential to pushing past outmoded paradigms, she shares the view that a committed, collaborative effort across all elements of the nuclear enterprise will be necessary for advanced nuclear technologies to occupy fully their essential role in creating a global energy future to elevate the standard of living of every human citizen.

Dr. Ashley Finan is the director of the National Reactor Innovation Center, and most recently served as Executive Director for the Nuclear Innovation Alliance and previously served as a Director of Nuclear Innovation at Clean Air Task Force.
Jason Herbert is the Director of Government Affairs and Member Relations at Energy Northwest. Jason spent a decade working in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Mikal Bøe is Core-Power CEO, a senior maritime executive with three decades of experience from floor to board level in shipping, finance, and technology.

Suzanne Hobbs Baker is a Co-founder at Good Energy Collective and a Creative Director for Fast Path To Zero at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Chantell Murphy is Program Manager for Nonproliferation and Arms Control R&D at Y-12 National Security Complex where she manages projects related to verification and international safeguards across the nuclear fuel cycle, and arms control treaty verification.
Marcela Mulholland is Political Director at Data For Progress.
Dr. Jessica Lovering is an Energy for Growth Hub Fellow and the co-founder and co-executive director of the Good Energy Collective.

River Bennett is a graduate researcher at the University of Michigan and a Fellow at the Nuclear Innovation Alliance.

Rachel Slaybaugh is the Division Director of the Cyclotron Road Division in the Energy Technologies Area in Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. In addition, Slaybaugh is an Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.
Ed Blanford is a CEO and Co-Founder of Kairos Power. Prior to co-founding Kairos Power, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of New Mexico.
Keely Anson serves as Chief Of Staff at Incite where she leads the investment and grant-making practice.
Doug Bernauer is CEO at Radiant and a Former SpaceX Engineer.

Workshop: Pitch Practice
In this session you will learn about successful pitching from experienced coaches and investors. Register before July 28th and submit your pitch to be able to present your idea, practice your pitch in front of distinguished experts and get feedback to make your pitch successful! Leslie Dewan is the founder of Criticality Capital, an investment fund focusing on new nuclear technology and other carbon-free energy production. She was named one of Time magazine’s 30 People Under 30 Changing the World and an MIT Technology Review Innovator Under 35.
Carly Anderson is Principal Chemical Engineer and Partner at Prime Movers Lab, a venture firm that invests in breakthrough science startups with the potential to impact billions of lives.
Tom Rusert is a Principal at Skilled Speaking Sonoma, CA with over 40 years of expertise in sales, marketing, and coaching public speaking. He created the Public Speaking Certification Program at Business and Executive Programs at UC Berkeley.
Workshop: How to Win Trends and Influence People
Brazilian model, digital fashion designer, and the world’s first nuclear influencer, Isabelle Boemeke, otherwise known as Isodope, will be presenting on her creative process and the role of effective communication for promoting technologies like nuclear power. This will be followed by a Q&A session and special giveaway at the end!

Workshop: Alumni Q&A Session
Prepare your questions about Nuclear Innovation Bootcamp (NIB). NIB Alumni will be answering all questions regarding the application, Bootcamp events, sessions, teamwork, and networking opportunities. They will also be sharing their vision for NIB’s future.
